Hockey legend Theoren Fleury to speak at Chilliwack Sports Dinner

Hockey legend Theoren Fleury has a fascinating and inspirational story, and he’ll be telling it in Chilliwack on Nov. 22.

The Chilliwack Sports Hall of Fame is bringing the former National Hockey League star to town this November.

Fleury will be the keynote speaker at the 2018 Chilliwack Sports Hall of Fame Dinner, which will be held Nov. 22 at the Tzeachten Hall (45855 Promontory Road).

Chilliwack Sports Dinner tickets selling fast

Renowned sports personality Squire Barnes will be hosting a roundtable discussion featuring Vancouver Canucks’ general manager Jim Benning, BC Lions’ general manager and head coach Wally Buono, and Vancouver Whitecaps’ president Bob Lenarduzzi. Squire Barnes to host Chilliwack Sports Dinner

Squire Barnes will host this fall’s first annual Chilliwack Sports Dinner presented by Royal LePage.

The popular Global TV sports anchor returns to Chilliwack and a role he’s familiar with.

Barnes hosted several sports banquets when the Western Hockey League’s Chilliwack Bruins were here, moderating round-table discussions that included Harry Sinden, Brian Burke, Glen Sather, Trevor Linden, Ron McLean, Jim Robson and Jim Hughson.

This year he’ll share the stage with Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning, BC Lions GM/head coach Wally Buono and Vancouver Whitecaps president Bobby Lenarduzzi.

RBC Cup Chilliwack 2018 reveals event logo, motto

Earlier today, the Host Committee for the 2018 RBC Cup in Chilliwack unveiled its new event logo and motto, Lets’emót.

Featuring the traditional blue and gold branding of the Royal Bank as used in previous RBC Cup championships, Hockey Canada provided the logo to the Host Committee with Chilliwack, BC proudly displayed below it. Downtown Chilliwack BIA executive director Kyle Williams and local First Nations artist Bonnie Graham-Krulicki worked to include the motto for the Chilliwack 2018 event in a beautiful script font that would represent the partnerships being formed through the event.

Hall of Fame reveals class of 2016

The Chilliwack Sports Hall of Fame welcomes two new members this October.
The inductees will be honored guests at the first annual Chilliwack Sports Dinner presented by Royal LePage, taking place Oct. 27 at the Squiala Hall.
They’ll be officially inducted the following night at a Chilliwack Chiefs game at Prospera Centre.

A legendary coach and a champion for women in sport headline the Chilliwack Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2016.
Lara Mussell Savage will be inducted as an athlete. A two-time world champion in Ultimate Frisbee, the Sto:lo Native was twice named BC’s top female Aboriginal athlete.

The general managers of Vancouver’s three major professional sports teams will be under one roof in Chilliwack Oct. 27.

The first annual Chilliwack Sports Dinner presented by Royal LePage will include a round-table discussion with  Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning, BC Lions head coach/GM Wally Buono and Vancouver Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi.

Home Finally Found For Hall

Judy Fitzsimmons’s dream of a Chilliwack Sports Hall of Fame is finally taking shape.

More than three years ago, Fitzsimmons was in Delta when she came across that city’s local sports hall.

“I thought, hmm. It was a little light bulb,” she said.

Since that fateful trip, Fitzsimmons has received support from local politicians and built a formidable team of volunteers to work towards her goal of a Chilliwack hall.

The sticking point, however, was where to put it.
